My budget is £150
I doubt this will make me money...it's simply an experiment
on what webmasters will pay for...and how much they'll pay
(can you tell I'm bored!!!)
Shouldn't be hard for competent php programmer
Overview
Link Directory - auction driven
Simple site - I'll do design around your php code
(which will need plenty of placemarkers so I know where to put <table> etc
User submits his URL with Title, URL, 3 keywords
The first character of the Title will determine under which
letter/number his link will be placed.
User selects amount to pay for link
Goes through to my PayPal account and pays
Payment made?
YES - PayPal returns to page which automatically approves the listing
and link is built
NO - message given "no payment no link"
Letters and Numbers across top of each page[0-9, a-z]
When clicked on these bring up the listings whose first character was that letter or number in order of highest bidder.
ie:-
[login to view URL] brings up listings whose Titles start with letter "A"
[login to view URL] brings up listings whose Titles start with letter "B"
[login to view URL] brings up listings whose Titles start with letter "C"
Listing thus:
<a href="xxx.com"><b><h1>Title</h1></b></a><br>
<h4>Description</h4><br>
<a href="xxx.com"><h4>URL</h4></a><br>
<small>[This link cost $x] [increase bid]</small>
NOTE...please use css for the size of fonts
The <h1> stuff shows the effect I want
If you use style sheets I can play with that until I get look I am after
"This link cost $x" signifies the amount that link cost
"increase bid" asks the bidder if he wants to bid again
If bidder wants to increase his bid the previous amount he has paid
will count towards new listing
For example if he previously bid at $10 for his site titled "Birmingham Hotels" which gave him top spot in "B" page and somebody just bid $15 to automatically get number one spot then he can bid $6 to regain top spot
All bids are in increments of $1
On every page is a section inviting viewers to submit their URL's
The amount they pay will determine their position on that page
Front page will show details of the top 25/35/45 bids for the whole directory (amount determined by admin)
Similarly to get on front page viewers will know how much they need to spend.
Admin back end required to Add/Edit/Delete all entries
If this cannot be automated through Paypal then admin will need to
manually allocate "points" for each listing in which case the
payment notification from PayPal will need to carry details of the
Title and URL
....but ideally one of you guru's will know how to automate this
The script should be able to run in conjunction with
other scripts running on same page if possible
I have a budget of $150 for this
I'll be extremely lucky to get a tenth of that back (if anything!!)
but it'll be fun seeing if it works or not.
Happy Bidding
