I am a senior Java developer with a Master's degree in Software Engineering and 4 years of professional experience in developing enterprise software based on Maven/Java/Hibernate/Spring/HTML+JavaScript technology stack and 6 years of core Java experience. The types of projects that I've worked on vary from large systems like internet banking projects to small ones, like a web-service based template engine. On this particular project I suggest using Spring framework (potentially with websockets and STOMP) on the backend and AngularJS and Famous on the front end.
