Mr. Edward Collins had never been a confident man. Despite his privileged upbringing, he often found himself lost for words and fumbling in social situations. And yet, there was one person who had captured his heart and made him feel bold - Miss Elizabeth Bennet.
He had admired her from afar for many months, watching her from across the room and admiring her wit, intelligence, and grace. He longed to tell her how he felt, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. What if she laughed at him? What if she thought him foolish? He simply couldn't bear the thought.
One evening, at a grand ball, Mr. Collins found himself standing nervously by the refreshment table, sipping at a glass of punch and trying to work up the courage to approach Miss Bennet. He was lost in thought, contemplating his next move, when he heard a soft voice beside him.
"Excuse me, sir," said a young woman, "but might I trouble you for a glass of punch?"
Mr. Collins turned to see a girl he did not recognize - a pretty creature with bright eyes and a shy smile. He was momentarily taken aback, unsure of how to respond.
"Of course, miss," he managed to stammer, pouring her a glass of punch and handing it to her with a bow.
