Network Monitoring Appliance

New Software development: We need new development. We need a large program that will be able to be plugged into a network and be used for monitoring that network. It also needs to send this information to a centralized op center so that we can monitor the activity. This box will detect any security attacks or threats on the system. It will also report of all standardized monitoring such as web filtering and internet usage. But its main function will be to act as an IDS (intrusion detection system) on the network and monitor security issues and activity. Should any intrusions be detected the system will immediately notify the central operations center that is monitoring the network so that we may contact the system administrators and or owners. This will have to be installed on a box so that we can ship it out to our customers so they can just install it and it works. So it will have to be pre configured for the most part with some exceptions that are going to be specific to whichever network this box will be installed on. It can use a Linux OS with add on software and monitoring tools. The budget for this is low but I am really looking around to get your opinions and even see if it could get done using this site. I will create a new budget once I hear more info from the providers. Thanks!
