The Good Fat and Omega 3
Strange though it may seem, there are fat cells that are actually good for you! We have spent years reading about how fat is bad for us, we have been programmed to view food and evaluate it as good or bad as per the fat content in the food. Now scientists tell us that just like you have good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, we have good fat and bad fat.
Good fat is brown fat, and it differs from the bad fat which is white in color. Actually both fats have the same function. They both store and provide energy to the body. How they function is very different. The white fat, also known as the adipose tissue provides insulation and energy by storing triglycerides. Now brown fat functions differently. It generates heat. These cells are dark red in color at times and also tan in color. They work by generating heat. Without using much technical jargon, in simple language, brown cells can help bring about weight loss. They have a larger amount of mitochondria which, as we learnt in school are the power plants of your cells. Brown fat and weight loss can work in tandem because the mitochondria rich brown fat cells burn up the sugar in the diet and this in turn provides heat and energy. The sugars get consumed and do not get stored in the body as fat.
So how do we go about activating the brown fat cells in our body? Well, apparently brown fat cells have a connection with Omega 3.
