Currently I do the following steps at the end of every month to help me keep track of all files my employees delete. Write a program that outputs fileNames to an Oracle 10g database, including a small web GUI front-end so users can type in an old file name (i.e. Testing*.xls) and see all files with that name that have been saved, showing the last backup day so I can determine what backup tape to restore from. Or is this somehow doable via Veritas Backup Exec/etc ? Monthly 1. open YourDir, FREE from [login to view URL] [login to view URL] 2. click "Create Directory Tree" ICON in UPPER LEFT 3. select "W:\" 4. click "OK" 5. wait for process to finish 6. click "Export to CSV file" 7. save file as "[login to view URL]" Whenever 1. user says they lost a file 2. search NEWEST to OLDEST monthly .csv file to find when it was deleted EXAMPLE a. user tells me on March 2nd they deleted a file sometime b. I search [login to view URL], if found, I restore from the February backup tape, if not I search [login to view URL], etc
