The site in question hasn't launched yet, but we have an eyes-only test site on DreamHost at [login to view URL] We have it up just for conference call discussions with site organizers and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. As you can see, the site has some content, an amateurish header design that I threw together in Fireworks, some menu options, fake banners and I also install Community Builder with SMF.
We have narrowed down the Rocket Theme choices to the following templates:
VERSATILITY II
VORTEX
We're relative novices at this so here's what we think needs to be done to the template and for the site:
--place modules in positions that we feel take advantage of content organization, but also have good navigation flow
--add more areas for various (standard sized) ads - actually stations and TV show promotions in our case
--an extension for managing ad clients and ads
--design and integration of an SMF forum that matches or approximates our chosen Rocket Theme
--ad an RSS news reader - we really like the AJAX (tabbed or not) [login to view URL];Itemid=7 or the flash-based RSS reader by webmaster-tips: [login to view URL];Itemid=159
--inclusion of blogging software (WordPress?) that will allow designated front end users to blog at will
The timeframe for a working site would be operational/online by May 1. We'd like to unveil the site at the annual PBS meeting in Dallas on May 12.
I'm very interested to hear your feedback, thoughts and bids. Thanks!
