Need a prototype of a home wall light switch cover/plate. Looking for a designer that will model, then print a 3D prototype. Would also need the model to be usable for the creation of a mold for plastic injection for mass production of the product. This does NOT involve the light switch itself but simply the WALL COVER/Plate of the light switch. The design of the wall light switch cover will be shared only with the winning bid and will require you to sign an NDA. Attached is a picture of your typical/regular home light switch cover/plate. I have designed a new version of this that I want to prototype, and move to retail production. I think we will need about 5 iterations of the design/3D print, before we get it right so take that into consideration in your bid. The 3D prototypes (expect about 5) will need to shipped to Canada for us to test and correct if necessary. Once the prototype is ok, I will need a 3D design that can be exchange with a plastic injection mold company that can produce the finished product. Bid only if you have experience with this type of work. Please post pictures of work you have done with your bid. Provide references and examples of customer work and also molding companies that have produced products from your design. In you bid, explain the different technologies/software/hardware you will use for the project.

I have 25 years working in product design and manufacturing and have the skills to take any product right through the design process to a level ready for manufacture. Working for many international companies such as Wallmart, Speedo, Hitachi, Visa, Tommie tippie and Tomy. To date I have assisted in taking over 40 products into production and have been responsible for creating IP for many other companies. There are 3 basic stages to my work. Stage 1 – initial concept done in 3D CAD and presented as a rendered image (I can show examples of my work to show you this) Stage 2 – design refinement based on your feedback from stage 1 Stage 3 – Development of chosen concept – this will look at developing parts for manufacture (injection molding) or prototyping. I cannot give you names of molding companies or client contact details as this is confidential. I can however show you companies and products on PDFs using Freelancer message service. I have worked on far more complex moldings than a cover, having designed handheld Chip and pin terminals for Dione and Kids toys for Mothercare to name but a few. I understand you would like to create a design and 3d print of an electrical wall plate. I have a 3D printer that I often times print boxes and things with. I am researching using magnetic iron core and stainless steel composite materials as well...the iron just arrived yesterday :-). My printer has a 0.4mm nosle and has a resolution of anywhere from .27mm to .1mm layer height. I currently have white and yellow abs, black and blue pla, pine wood composite, and magnetic iron core composite for available materials to print in. I have a PowerSpec Pro 3D Dual Print Head printer I purchased from Micro Center if you would like to see the specs on it, you can do a Google search or I can provide you more detailed specs. I use 123D Design for modeling. It takes about 2 hours per print and about 1 - 2 days for the design unless it is very detailed in which case the design could take a bit longer to model in the computer. I did some projects like this for wall switch, of course was NDA too, I'm designing Plastic Injection Molds for over than 10 years, 90% of the parts we make it here in USA, the other 10% we send the mold design and manufactured out of sea.
