Hi, As you mentioned in the first part, face recognized attendance system which already did in my internship for a company in their local office. They have implemented that in their office in real time. The attendance system was built on an open source library called OpenFace, so there won't be any paid software required for this project. Coming to the second part, which identifies actions performed by the students and then recognize their face. But the second part may not work very accurately because this problem of recognizing the action is still in the research area. so keeping this as an additional feature instead of the basic version would be applicable.
