Write a program to consolidate inventories from various excel/xml/csv vendor formats

I have e-commerce website running on Magento and need to have the product inventory in magento specific format for bulk upload. I need a back-end program that runs on ubuntu with minimal package installations. The program should perform following tasks, sequentially: 1. Read an xls/csv file from each vendor. 2. Understand each file and columns (product name, price, MRP, etc.) based on configuration for each vendor. (configurable by me) 3. Change the column names to corresponding Magento column name and format. 4. Perform some clean-up on each field in the file (e.g. spell checks, read color names and compare to sites color list and update accordingly) 5. Finally, create a new excel file in designated folder with specific naming convention after all above tasks are completed. Details about specific requirements will be shared when we discuss the project.
