Manchester Medical School (MMS) is the largest in the UK with over 2000 students on the Undergrad programme. From Year 3 the students are provided with iPads. MMS has a track record of providing innovative and ground breaking technological solutions to improve the students’ experience. We are part way through the development of a curriculum management tool called 1Med and have recently launched a new e-learning Platform called 1Med Learn. The latter is built in Wordpress and is very popular with students and staff. An RFQ is for the development of a Wordpress system nominally called ‘1 Med Buzz’ is available. This will be part of the 1Med component-based system. The purpose of the system is to provide a communication channel to students and staff, and which will carry non-programme specific information. System Platform: Buzz will be created in Wordpress following the School’s experience and success with 1Med Learn using this as a template for design and functionality Look and Feel: Buzz will follow University policy on branding and colours. Students in the workshop expressed their liking for 1med learn’s interface and Buzz should retain the design principles of that site in order to provide consistency and a continuity with the rest of 1med.
