Write an Android application

The application is a straightforward build with the purpose of downloading all current files from a predefined server. Files that are supported are all that are compatible with the iOS web view, however the main files on the server are PDF and Word files. On first launch, the users open up the app and are greeted by a simple animated tutorial guiding them through the app. Once completed, the app downloads all the current files from the server and places them in the corresponding groups (either 'Documents' or 'Policies'). Each area has the ability to show Generic resources, that are applicable to all staff in the region, and 'Hospital specific' resources that are only applicable to specific regions. Each time the user launches the app or navigates back to the menu, the app will recheck for new or updated files and will download, update or delete as necessary. This will ensure any vital documents are always up-to-date. If the user does not have an active network connection the user will still be able to access downloaded files but will be notified that a connection is not present. Obviously when a connection is then re-detected the app will continue to download the files. To assist the management and viewing of the mass amount of files, there is a search feature at the top of all lists of files. In addition, the user can swipe an item to 'Star' it and save it to a home screen contained list. Also, the last 10 viewed items will be shown in a 'History' area of the menu. The 'Settings' area of the app offers to redisplay the tutorial and to view two additional apps. The scanning of the server directories are completed via a PHP script that sits on the server which generates an XML document. We would therefore be requiring an Android app that reads this data and outputs it as described.
