Get Joomla user id via http call

We wish to launch screens from another application in our Joomla site. We will be using the wrapper functionality to do this. We do not need any assistance in using the wrapper feature of Joomla; it is very simple. However, we need to get the Joomla user id in order that the user does not have to log in again to our application. We need an http(s) api call that we can make from an external server to obtain the Joomla UserID of the user currently logged in within the current browser session. If the session ID is invalid or if the user is not logged in, the response should indicate an appropriate error message. The call signature should be similar to the following. http(s)://[login to view URL] A successful response should be in xml format as follows: (see attachment for more detail) ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
