I would start by executing a actual query on the database and see the time it is taking to return the result. If it is not taking too much time would look into the joins defined. could be a problem with one of the cross join. I have enough experience to deal with these problem I. I have a strong software-related background. Working at the Eisenmann GmbH, Germany, I often optimized database queries. There are typically two paradigms that you want to use: (1) move as much complexity to the database (Oracle DB handles queries much better than any programming language), or (2) use simple queries and move the complexity to Java.
