Configure Altium ActiveBOM and create component library.

We have three PCB designs made in Altium. The schematic design and layout work is already done by another engineer. We want to upgrade the design to use ActiveBOM and organize a master component library. Problem is, the Sr. electronic design engineer doesn't know how to use ActiveBOM and his availability for detail work is generally too limited for us anyway. Our solution is to add one expert layout engineer to our team and relieve the senior designer of most PCB layout and related documentation tasks. In the end, we want to be able to derive BOM data from supplier's links for component Description, Resistance, Capacitance, Voltage, and Tolerance on each unique component. The data must come from Supplier link, not with manual edits or copy/pasting of data to each schematic or library component. From what I understand, each component should only need the supplier ID (Digikey or Mouser usually) or the manufacturer / manufacturer part number combination. I think we need several new library parts since the Sr. designer only made one library component for each passive type and then changed values after copying into the schematic. We have a custom BOM Excel template that we want to use. If you are qualified to help us, but rather busy...please consider offering hourly-based training to us.
