A quick easy job for somebody good with woodpress

I've just set up a blog using Wordpress to help promote a book I wrote recently. It's all been fairly simple, however I just need some help to sort out two small problems that have cropped up. 1) I was really struggling to create blog posts with a short excerpt on the home page and then have the full post appear on the link page. Eventually this seemed to be solved using a wordpress plugin called "WP Limit Posts Automatically" however, I now see that if I post an image before the text I see some odd words appear around the image, which look like the alt tags or image description. I don't mind how it's done, but somehow I'd like to use the excerpts properly, so it all looks good. 2) Since this site is primarily aimed at bringing in traffic for the book sales page, I need to add a banner to the header area and a picture of the book in the side panel if possible. These two banners need to be visible on every page to maximize the number of click throughs to the sales page. I believe it's possible to have a random rotating banner image in the header through a WP plugin and it would be great if this could be implemented. For that reason I have included two header graphics. It's important that none of this work breaks anything else on the blog or the sales page. Since I will be losing the header text I would like to see the H1 and H2 tags added to header graphic. I am sure this is actually a very quick task for anybody skilled with wordpress. Thanks Ashley
