Hi! I'm Ronny, originally from Norway, but having spent most of the last decade in London, UK and the Philippines. I've worked with a number of different businesses over the years, almost always including some database import/export. Back in 1998-2001, when my database skills really started to show, I was asked to filter data from the entire tax payer registry of Norway, which - amazingly - was available at the time. I also "massaged" data for a number of the biggest national lotteries, charities and book clubs, optimizing the selection of people for their direct marketing efforts. I then worked for Holiday Autos in the UK, on their Holiday Hotels product. This included a database of more than 70000 hotels, each with a multitude of different rooms, for which I created a white labelled front end enabling them to offer affiliates branded booking systems using their backend. More recently, I led a team of Ruby developers creating a database for one of London's major Executive Search firms, replacing the market leading software. This included importing all their old data from the entirely undocumented legacy db. I have some questions: - Will the imported file be provided once or updated regularly? If updated, will this replace the old data entirely or be incremental updates? - Will column mapping/filtering/etc be provided to me once and never changed, or do you need an interactive config where you can tweak settings? - How many fields are there in total, over how many tables?
