Careers project description: A portal-like site that holds interviews of select professionals e.g. architect, doctor etc, to provide high school and college kids with in-depth, accurate information "from the horse's mouth" as it were. Interviews will be in video, audio and transcript formats where the video and audio will stream using a flash player. The transcript will be available to download as a pdf. (a user who becomes a member can also then download the audio as a mp3) Each interview-page will have a profile of the interviewee with some bio-data on who they are, what they do, what uni/college/school they graduated from along with the links to their media files (video, audio, transcript). Backend admin panel may require multi-level access e.g. author (to upload media & bio-data/pix), editor (to moderate info uploaded by author & activate/deactivate) and administrator. Although a subscription site is not envisioned, it may become at a later stage so the site should be able to extend in that manner. Site should appeal to 15-25 age group so a web 2.0 feel with gradients and large graphics/icons and ajax, however keeping the site as light as possible in terms number of elements so it is easy to understand and use. Would like to use Ruby on Rails to develop.
