You will be subcontracted for a job involving troubleshooting & optimizing a Wordpress blog. Our team is currently redesigning the website but the first phase of the plan is to speed up the current site. We are using the Wordpress Plugin "W3 Total Cache" for optimization of the website.
Website: [login to view URL]
Server: Apache Server
Issue: Slow load times on older computer and browses. Installing W3 Total Cache helps load time with some issues. However, there is something not configured correctly on the server end that is not allowing us to optimize the site.
Steps To Reproduce:
- Installed W3 Total Cache Plugin.
- Get the error message. "It appears Minify URL rewriting is not working. If using apache, verify that the server configuration allows .htaccess or if using nginx verify all configuration files are included in the configuration."
- Attempt to update and allow .htcaccess in the server configuration.
- Running test using YSlow in Google Chrome. Get 404 Errors for /[login to view URL] & /images/bk_footer.jpg. We change the reference to bk_footer in [login to view URL] but the changes don't save into the server.
- Website is still running slow depsite using the cache plugin
W3 Total Control Settings
- Page Cache: ON
- Minify: ON
- Database Cache: ON
- Object Cache: ON
- CDN: ON (Amazon Cloudfront & S3 / Account & Bucket already created)
