Credit Card Rewards Calculator that will help users determine the monthly and annual amounts they can earn from credit cards paying percentage rewards (typically 1% or 2%) on eligible purchases. The calculator should also compute the amount of interest that will be paid (at various APR rates)if users carry balances at various levels. The purpose is to show users how carrying a credit card balance diminishes the rewards earned and to help them determine the break-even point. For example, a person who earns 2% on $5,000 of eligible monthly purchases earns a $100 reward for the month. If the same person typically carries an average $3,000 balance on the card at 10%APR, he pays $25 in monthly interest effectively reducing the earned reward to $75. In addition to the "basic" reward %, some cards also pay additional rewards for buying specific brands.
