I need a simple PHP webservice application that when called takes ? a URL value, looks on the page for a RSS feed and if found parses and returns several values. In the form of XML ala a standard REST webservice xml response. ? By looking for RSS I mean looking for a tag similar to either of these: <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Posts on 'Postpartum Progress' (RSS 1.0)" href="[login to view URL]" />? <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Posts on 'Postpartum Progress' (RSS 2.0)" href="[login to view URL]" /> The exact items that the service should return would be: Return:(array) a. Avg num of days between post; (2decimal places) b. Total number of posts(int) c. Date of first post(date(mm/dd/yyyy) d.
