I require a simple app to be developed to send text strings to a tcp port for a given host name or ip address on a local network.
The app will display 12 buttons (similar in size, shape and spacing to that of the anrdroid lock screen) which can be mapped via a menu (or change to config file) to individual text strings.
The app will integrate with the server component of MCE Controller to allow remote control of a media center via an android device.
## Deliverables
GUI interface:
Slick looking and as close to the original android UI as possible.
Must work with Android 1.6, ? 2.0 and 2.1
Must handle errors such as no IP route elegantly and provide passive messages when a command has not? successfully? been sent.
I will provide Icons for each of the buttons, however they must be professionally displayed against the app background.
The application must consume minimal CPU time and therefore must only be active when in use (in a similar way to an IR remote)
Optional extra chargeable work to develop an additional Android widget to add up to eight individual buttons to the Android Desktop.
Commands to be sent (and associated config file) are attached below.
Setup is Media Center running MCE Controller in server mode, listening on a specific port.
Andriod on same network sending commands to the MCE Controller via TCP/IP and text strings.
It is probably worth adding to the attached commands file to include image references for each command.
A menu should allow client settings oto be configured, eg destination dns name or ip address for commands etc (the attached config file gives examples).?
