Hello,
I need some help in solving an issue on our website. We have both audio and video files available for download on our site. When a user clicks on a link to an .mp3, for example, the file automatically begins playing either in Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player. What we want is for the file to start to download instead ??" to force the save as dialog to appear.
I have tried a few different methods of solving this problem, but the solutions that I have found do not work on very large files, i.e. videos. The following is the code that I used:
<%
Dim oStr
Dim sFile
sFile = [login to view URL]("filepath")
Set oStr = [login to view URL]("[login to view URL]")
[login to view URL] [login to view URL](sFile)
[login to view URL] = "application/zip"
[login to view URL] "content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" & sFile
[login to view URL] [login to view URL]
%>
I pass the file name and path information from another page ([login to view URL]) to a page ([login to view URL]) containing the code above.
[<%=[login to view URL]%>][1]
Like I said, this method works with small files, but when used on a large video file that is hundreds or MBs, the server will then slow or even lock up.
**If anyone can offer a solution, whether it is a link, written instructions, or a lead to an existing control, please feel free to bid.**
Thanks.
