Design home page mockup for virtual book fair website

I am developing a virtual book fair website called [login to view URL] I need a front end that would appeal to a high school student (as high schools are our primary audience). I'm thinking youthful, colorful & fun. BUT at the same time, I don't want to go too far off the deep end as to turn off potential corporate clients that might want to have a virtual book fair for their employees. Home page will have a rotating display of books that I can change (not hardwired into flash, maybe javascript that I can feed data to?) and the functionality will ultimately be ... 1. Info about the site [ WHAT IS A VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR ? ] 2. Link for a school or organization to create a VBF [ CREATE YOUR OWN VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR ] 3. Way for students/employees to access a VFB by entering the correct VBF name (as created by school/organization admin who created the fair) [ ACCESS YOUR VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR ] So I am looking for bids to produce an inviting home page. Your bid will carry much more weight if you could provide any home page samples that you think would fit this OR if you want to include a small mockup to let me know you've got the right idea. For the final product I will require HTML & CSS code so that I can build my actual site, with the site chopped up into individual, reusable graphics for use on other pages (ie: separate logo/header/banner). Also, I would like to incorporate the url ([login to view URL]) in the logo image so that it can standalone if necessary. Finally, althought the url contains the word 'cafe', I'm looking for it more to convey the idea of a meeting place. I don't need to see references to coffee :) Thank you ## Deliverables **DEFINITIONS:** A typical book fair would be described as follows: A company provides a quantity of books (200-1000?) to a school and then the school offers those books to sale to its students. The students may come to the library or some central place where all the books are displayed and then they have a fun environments to purchase books on their own. These books are usually sold at full price and then the school makes a profit as does the supplying company. A virtual book fair (VBF) is the same principle, but instead of me sending books to the school (or other organization) for display, the school will instead direct their students (or employees) to log into a website which has their name/logo already setup so it looks familiar. Please don't send me any more lists of sites you've done. I need to see something specific to what I'm asking for. Maybe produce a 950x120 pixel banner (with watermark or whatever for your security) and whosever I like will get the design job for the rest of the page. Again the site is www.booksrockcafe.com. Maybe think a cross between the Hard Rock Cafe and the Library?? Something edgy, exciting, but about books... Perhaps look at Marvel.com. Look at the colors on that site. I like the width of the Marvel site. So I'd stay with a banner width of 950px, just like theirs. And again, like theirs, it shouldn't be busy all the way through, so I can overlay links and options over a portion of it like they do. A book or books will have to have something to do with it, but in a funky, non-boring kind of way Ultimately, like the Marvel site, we'll want to do a big background image (behind the main site content) for the site that ties in with the banner.
