I am a native English speaker, and I scored 93% on Freelancer.com's American English Level 3 Test, which demonstrates that my grammar, punctuation, and spelling are very strong. My vocabulary is immense, and although children's literature doesn't warrant the use of complex wording, it does require the ability to use words in a way which makes them easy to read and to comprehend by children and adults alike. When I was 17, I worked at a children's bookstore, where my passion for children's books blossomed. I read voraciously, and soon became the store expert on which books would be a good choice for which children, given their ages, their comprehension, and their interests. I began collecting children's books, especially those for very young children, of which I now own literally hundreds. My twin 3 year old nieces are the latest children to reap the benefits of my collection, and twice a week they come over for dinner, coloring, and reading. We also make up our own stories! I've been teaching kids creative writing for three years. I teach everything from grammar, narrative, paragraph structure and dialog. I also show kids how make their own DIY storybook. So, I think my experience gives me an idea of how kids actually read.

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love reading and writing children's books. I am especially interested in promoting diversity and equality in children's literature ; I am a new Mom who collects all types of books for her daughter with the hope that she will learn to appreciate herself and the uniqueness of other children.
