I already have a working prototype similar to your project requirement, a STM32F105 processor with the SIM 900 GSM module and a USB connection for integration with the PC App that i developed. In this case i will substitute the GSM module with a WIFI module from Panasonic or Texas Instruments. To allow mobile phone connection i will use the SPBT2632C2A Bluetooth module. As I understand the device with RF, IR, Wifi an BLE will as a main unit and will control various actuators and receive data from sensors. I will build the main unit using MCU from Arduino family, for RF I will use nFR24l01+, for Wifi - ESP8266, for IR simple IR transceiver, for BLE nRF51822. I will design simple cloud infrastructure an connect the main unit to it, your App developers can take from there. And I will to a simple android App that will connect to main unit trough BLE. I will design a relay module that can turn on/off appliances and telemetry module that will send sensor reading like temperature and humidity. And of course I will design the network layer need for these modules to communicate with the main unit. I will design the PCBs using KiCAD and make the prototypes as well.
