I am very familiarized with the use of Bluetooth modules in projects like this. I usually use HC-05/06 and PIC micro-controllers because they are cheap but very reliable and stable at the same time. I can help you out with the android application as well. In my last freelancing job, I reversed a serial communication protocol and implemented Bluetooth communication. I have developed several micro-controller / blue-tooth products in the past, whic makes me a strong candidate to bring your design to completion. Without complete knowledge of the data volume, my proposal would be to utilize a Nordic Semiconductor Bluetooth low energy (BLE) front-end and stack combined with an ARM Cortex-M0 micro-controller. This allows the use of high quality, free design tools (GCC for ARM), in addition to a solid RF front-end. BLE while limited in data quantity also eliminates any special considerations in dealing with Apple for licensing, etc. My approach will be to: 1] Identify the requirements for the design. 2] Develop a schematic and produce the first circuit boards (total of 5) 3] Debug the PCB 4] Send 3 PCBs for you evaluation as well as app development. 5] Code the firmware for the project. 6] Deliver first level (alpha) release code for testing. 7] Bug fixes and corrections. 8] Final product release.
