Content and copy writing for non-profit organization focusing on startup and tech investment

Role Freelance copy writer HYSTA is fast-growing non-profit organization that connects the technology marketplace between the U.S. and China. It produces well known tech leadership conferences, monthly startup events, and other exclusive VIP summits, well attended by many tech professionals from both bay area and China or other parts of Asia. HYSTA is also becoming a content destination for business professionals who seek information and knowledge to understand Chinese tech business and cross-border venture capital investments. We are looking for freelancing copy writers to assist our growing needs in content production, web site redesign and regular event-based editorials. The right candidate will work closely with our leadership team and volunteers who are passionate in tech’s next waves (IoT, Genome, On-demand, 3D Printing,…) and with curious minds in the largest emerging tech market: China. You will be a key player of our creative team to revitalize the HYTSA brand and give birth to its new and exciting sub-brands. This is a freelance position paid by hourly. Hourly rate depends on candidate’s experience. Responsibilities - Articulate HYSTA’s value proposition to compelling messages into our global community, which includes startup founders, venture capitalists, large and small tech organizations and other business professionals; - Work with the Chief Content Officer and translate conceptual or creative ideas into vivid messages; - Write clear, persuasive, original copy to our partners, sponsors and other stakeholders in a consistent tone and style; - Collaborate with our event team and other volunteers to write thoughtful event announcements and event recap content; - Edit copies from other content contributors including interviews, event session highlights, and other materials; - Proofread copies to check spelling and grammars and make sure the tone is consistent with HYSTA voice; - Support other broader editorial tasks across the organization. Requirements - 3-5 years of copywriting experience in both print and web is preferred with exceptions to students from journalism or liberal art background who have developed understanding and/or experience in tech industry; - English proficiency and excellent grammatical, writing and editorial skills; - Ability to understand terms and trends in tech industry and quickly learn new information and materials; - Experience in website content development is a plus; - Resume with portfolio and online profile; - Passion in tech innovation, global economy and emerging markets is a big plus.
