VERY SHORT: Need someone to map some Object properties into an e.g. XML string and "socket connect" to a server on the Internet. Hand over the XML string - and receive a response from the server.
The (more) detailed description:
I have a current Visual Studio C++ project running, where I am maintaining/writing a DLL for a Windows program, that does some calculations, based on input from the Windows program. The basic framework of this setup is currently working.
It is now needed, to move some processing logic (calculations) to the cloud. Information must be moved over the network (internet) to another server, and the processing result will be handed back to the DLL.
I need help with the these two steps:
1: Mapping the data Objects (supplied by the original Windows program) in the DLL, to something we can send over the network. Only properties needs to be sent. This COULD be mapping the object into a XML string. Maybe using SOAP - maybe not ? :-) The Objects is quite small, and will change its structure very seldom, so a "manual" mapping of properties into a XML structure is FINE.
2: Setup/handle the client part of the client/server communication. The DLL shall communicate with a Linux server running the server logic.
You must know how to implement SSL, handle reconnects, handle broken connections. Define a concept for handling other typical errors in the communication.
I estimate that the tasks can be completed in 2-3 days including startup, handover and writing documentation (inline code commenting).
Its more important for me, that you have real experience in client/server communication and knows "best practice" for cloud enabling software, than it is to save $5 on the hourly rate.
I can help you write your code, but I will be using QT to do the job, since it has everything taken care of for writing and reading socket data, like endianess and even SSL connection handling, this will save a lot of time. I have real experience check my github.
I am very willing and experienced to complete this project for you using coding standards in socket networking. I can encapsulate the data in which ever form suits you.
Basically if you use other libraries for xml and http/https the task will take few days as estimated. Also you could use QT for that and the time also reduces.
If you want it all implemented in pure C++ it will take too much. From what I see you use this project only on Windows Platform. Will it be interesting for you to go multiplatform?
I have experience in Visual C++ over Windows with this kind of libraries when I`ve Worked at Comodo and now on Windows Phone.
If you want to implement this using boost/curl/openSSL libraries I`ve put a midle price of 35 dolars per hour. I prefer working more time and make a better job for you. I am new here but we can discuss and have a longer colaboration if you are interested.
We have very long experience in C++ and different integration technologies including legacy and modern technologies.
So, we have also long experience in web service.
I am sure we can do this easily.
