The goal is to search files, which have already been downloaded from a website. These files can be in either .txt or .html format (depending on which is more appropriate, you tell me), samples are attached.
The end result is to extract two pieces of information, name and address, and place these in a .txt file so that they can be imported into excel. This information should only be extracted if the following criteria is met: There must be a positive balance for at least three (3) years. The balance is shown in the total column. If there is a positive balance for three (3) or more years, the name and address need to be extracted to a .txt in the format nameaddress. This way I can use the space delimited function in excel to easily create a list.
The files attached are named exactly as they will be and the program must be capable of searching through 20,000 records or more.
I suppose a visual basic type program used as an excel macro may work or possibly reading the .txt files. Unfortuneately the .txt files do not have any formatting, so all of the data is connected.

Each one of your files contain Lines of format

(ie amounts seperated by $signs), process file only if you find >=3 positive amounts in this line.
If >=3 numbers found then extract name & address from the lines

If this is your exact requiremnent and all files are of same format then I can do it using

If it a purely one off excercise - then you wouldnt be too worried about the GUI quality etc.

If u have downloaded these files from a website, u can tell us the site , so that our prg can automatically check for updations also.

We can do this with html files more easily and perfectly. If you need we can make an excel file or a comma or tab delimited file as space delimited may cause errors while importing to excel as names and addresses also contain spaces.
