Christmas and New Year in India
Christmas and New Year are the best times of the year for all the nations, and India is no exception. During the months of winter when the temperature dips low, these celebrations bring in a lot of warmth and festivity to the country. As India is one of the secular states in Asia, the country allows grand Christmas celebrations followed by the New Year.
Although Christians are minority in India, that doesn’t prevent the celebration form becoming a grand affair in almost every part of India. This is one occasion that is celebrates all over India, by different cultures and people of different religions. The Christmas nights are a grand affair indeed in India.
Christmas is a tradition in the Western countries and Indians have also maintained the same. With the advent of the month of December, people get prepared to celebrate this Eve along with the preparation of the coming year. It is no longer a European festival. When you walk down the lanes in India during the month of December, you will surely forget that Christians comprise only 2 to 3 percent of the populace. The roads, the ships and markets are flooded with Christmas trees, Santa Claus, Christmas balls and decorations (stars, tinsel and flashy lights).
