Briefing Papers (500 words) Carefully study the assigned reading and write a 500 word briefing paper that includes the following sections: Title – Including the name of the reading and the name of your paper based on your understanding of the reading. Background – bullet form summary of the most relevant points made in the reading. Make sure that you cite appropriately. Analysis (approximately 40% of words) – The “so what” illustrating how you have made sense of the most relevant pieces of content discussed throughout the reading. This segment is for you to explain in your own words your understanding of the main points covered in the reading. Therefore, avoid the use of direct quotes. Recommended Applications (approximately 50% of words) – How the content of the reading, based on your understanding of it, can be used in the context of strategic management and business strategy, providing specific contextual examples (company, industry, cross-industry, cross-country). For doing this, find a troubled business (small businesses are preferred) and explain how the current strategic problems that the business is facing could be fixed if all or some of the concepts from the reading were applied. Avoid presenting a successful business that does not need help. I am trying to assess how well you can use the concepts from the reading to solve relevant and specific problems of a real business. Make sure that the problems of that particular business are closely related to the content of the reading. Bibliography (APA)
