Android tablet app with content browser and chat client

The app will be used inside a live escape game (spy/agent story) where the team is a group of agents that needs the tablet to access information in the „Agency Archive“ or to chat with the headquarter. The archive will contain material, that will help them during the game. The chat can be used to ask question that an external operator (who watches the team on camera) can answer. So I would like to have an android app for tablet use which should have these functionalities: Language selection (English and German) A welcome page with an introduction video (video will be provided) A content browser to access information (via a hierarchical menu pointing to content pages) A chat client to chat with the operator (pc) And the app should look really slick and give the users the 007 spy feeling! I would like to have some kind of content management solution because I would like to be able to change and extend the menu and the content by myself. How this will be realised is to be discussed. Content browser The user should see a menu on the left and the information on the right hand side of the tablet in horizontal orientation (only). The menu is hierarchical and can have sub-branches The content consists of text pages, images or videos It should be possible for the user to switch to full screen viewing mode, especially for images and videos Example layout of the menu: Safe House Locations Munich 1 2 3 London ... Spy Skills open handcuffs open locks disarm bombs model xyz model qwerty Android Chat Client The chat client should be hidden on the right with a handle to swipe out (over a quarter/third of the screen) If a message comes in the app should show a notification with a quick link to go to the chat client (alternatively, the chat client can open automatically when a message comes in and catch the user's attention in some way) The Android chat client should communicate with a desktop (PC) client or a browser chat client. This could either be setup to happen directly or could be managed by an application server in the local network on site. PC or browser chat client (“operator client”) This client will be used by the operator of the game. No special styling is needed, here the functionality is important. The operator client should be able to chat with 2 clients (android tablets running the app) at the same time. If there are two team clients communicating with the operator they should not be able to see the communication of the other team. The The technology we use for this is open for discussion.
