. Critique the following article: Marabel, M. A., & Raimondi, S. L. (2007). Teachers’ perceptions of what was most (and least) supportive during their first year of teaching. Mentoring and Tutoring, 15(1), 25-37. Your article critique should address the following areas. I. Article Summary Summarize the article in your own words. Your summary should identify the following: the research hypothesis, the population/ sample of the study, the methodology, results of the study, and the conclusion. II. General Evaluation Criteria This section requires evaluating the following using the general evaluation criteria listed on (p.) as a guide. You do not need to address every question listed in your text for general evaluation criteria. You only need to address the questions that are applicable to the research article. How do you know which questions are applicable? This is an area 2 you will need to spend some time thinking about, referring back and forth from the text to the article. After consideration, you are encouraged to engage your peers on the help section of the discussion board—remember we are a collaborative learning community. Only address the type specific criteria related to your article. III. Format for Papers All article critiques must conform to the following guidelines: 1. The research article critique should be 4-5 pages in length, no more. I will stop reading after five pages. This number does not include your references section. 2. Use APA formatting. Do NOT repeat any of this information in the text of your paper, unless it is in a header or footer. Margins: All margins (top, bottom, right and left) must be 1 inch. Spacing: Double-spaced Do not place extra spacing between paragraphs. Font: You must use Times New Roman 12-point font. Grammar and Proofreading: Adhere to standard American English spelling and grammar requirements. Proofread your papers with a computer program is not the same thing as using language properly, and spell-check will not alert you to typographical errors other than misspelled words. If you have concerns about your proofreading skills, ask a classmate to proof your paper for you, as it is often easier to catch someone else’s mistakes. These requirements may seem nit-picky to you, but they are required because the various ways students have of getting around length and style requirements often make the papers vastly unequal and difficult to grade on an acceptable standard.
