H∞ filtering for a class of 2-D discrete-time parameter-varying systems

This paper deals with H∞ filtering for 2-D discrete-time LPV systems described by the FM second model with matrices that depend rationally on convex-bounded time-varying parameters. A method is proposed for the design of robust 2-D filters with a prescribed H∞ performance for all admissible parameters' trajectories. The filter design method builds on a DAR of the underlying system and is based on a parameter-dependent Lyapunov function with affine dependence on the system parameters.

Gain-scheduled control of two-dimensional discrete-time LPV systems in Roesser model

This paper is concerned with gain-scheduled control of two-dimensional discrete-time linear parameter-varying systems described by a Roesser state-space model with matrices depending affinely on time-varying scheduling parameters. The parameter admissible values and variations are assumed to belong to given intervals. Linear matrix inequality based methods are devised for designing static state feedback gain-scheduled controllers with either an H∞H∞ or quadratic regulator-type performance.

Regional stability of two-dimensional nonlinear polynomial Fornasini-Marchesini systems

This paper addresses the problem of regional stability analysis of 2-dimensional nonlinear polynomial systems represented by the Fornasini-Marchesini second state-space model. A method based on a polynomial Lyapunov function is proposed to ensure local asymptotic stability and provide an estimate of the domain of attraction of the system zero equilibrium point.

The First Version of an Underwater Acoustic Software-Defined Modem for the Brazilian Navy

This work presents the progress that has been achieved by the Department of Underwater Acoustics at the Almirante Paulo Moreira Sea Studies Institute in the development of a simplex underwater acoustic software-defined modem. This paper describes how the modem’s applications were implemented using C programming language, as well as its technical and functional features to date. Three scenarios for testing are introduced to assess the modem’s performances.

How to Find if a Single-Board Computer Loses Audio Samples in an Isochronous Data Transfer via USB

This work deals with the issue of loss of samples in a data acquisition process using an audio capturer device connected to a low cost and consumption single-board computer via USB interface. A question that may arise in this kind of hardware is if it can acquire data from the device avoiding an overrunning buffer. A method for finding lost samples is presented that is based on the acquisition of a linear frequency modulation signal and the analisys of its discrete Fourier Transform.

This work presents the results of an experiment aiming at acoustically characterizing, in a long term, the biological activity and its correlation with the upwelling regime in Cabo Frio Island Bay, and other biotic and abiotic factors. Moreover, to develop a signaling scheme using local bioacoustics characteristics for covert communications and to understand the impact of noise and ocean stratification on broadband communications.

This paper describes the lessons learned from the experiment BIOCOM'19 carried out in January 2019, in a shallow water bay off the island of Cabo Frio (RJ, Brazil). A dual accelerometer vector sensor hydrophone was deployed for two days, near a rocky shore covered with a significant benthic fauna.
