PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Information Handling Services, Cyberjaya (Feb 1999 – Present)
Program Manager – Reporting to Senior Manager IHS Inc (USA)
I do project management for projects in the US, Malaysia, India & China. I am responsible for our Content Automation Tracking System (CATS) product that capture electronic data and drives products that bring in almost USD100 million businesses annually. The CATS system user interface was developed in ASP.NET, C# accessing SQL server database. I worked on almost 70 sub-projects for this product that involved Infrastructure changes, enhancement, data cleanup, backups, replication, syndication, load balancing and failovers.
My Roles & Responsibilities:-
Ø Study the project charter. Do Cost-Benefit analysis, note the Assumption & Constraints, list the project deliverables and risks. Prepare project schedule and plan. Gather and assign resources to Projects. Issue full Schedules of Work to client and involved parties for approval.
Ø Track and monitor project progress ensuring they meet the scope, time, budget and quality.
Ø Provide updates and adjustments to the Project Plan as necessary to ensure the project continues to meet the Key deliverables defines at the start of the Project.
Ø Manage day-to-day Project tasks and escalate any issues that has impact on the project performance, cost and schedule.
Ø Assist with Acceptance Testing and Manage hand-over of the completed Project to client as per the project charter.
Software Project Key achievements:-
Ø The E-fastener content capture and application product. This product was a major initiative from the US office, were I play duel role overseeing the development of the Content capture application that was developed in ASP.NET, C# and SQL database. Also, project managed the data capture exercises being done by our data entry department. My team was award the “Circle of Excellent award for worldwide 2007” for this project.
Ø Introduce almost 30 new revisions for CATS system since 2007.The primary enhancement was to add more automation to enable our users to make changes and reduce the number of change request that we send to our service delivery to execute. We reduced such request by 70%.
Ø Spent 10 days at our UK office to analyze and do feasibility study to determine which of their legacy application are to be migrated into the CATS system. The end product were 10 dataflow diagrams that was presented to the management for they consideration.
Ø In charge of all software tickets throughout the organization, I will take custody of the tickets, assign a PM to the incident, follow up on resolution and closed them on resolved. I managed these tickets via BMC incident management system. We reduced the number of outstanding tickets from 150 to 10 within 6 month.
Ø Introduce almost 30 new revisions for CATS system since 2007.The primary enhancement was to add more automation to enable our users to make changes and reduce the number of change request that we send to our service delivery to execute. We reduced such request by 70%.
Ø Remote project management of our variable resource ODC partner in China, whom services we acquired to help implement less critical features of CATS.
Infrastructure Project Key achievements:-
Ø Successful migration of the E-fasteners product to our Bangalore office. I managed the application handover, training, database and infrastructure setup. This was done within the 1 month period given by the management.
Ø Infrastructure project to move machines that are nearing their lease expiry and port them to use virtualization, thus saving money on resources. Also, implemented load balancing and failover for CATS to ensure high availability and seamless operation.
Ø Numerous sub-proejcts in setting up minor networks for new users of the CATS application both locally and remotely.
Ø In charge of the migration to Citrix thin client for the Malaysia office, thus reducing and optimizing the use of software licensing and enabling better monitoring of the resource.
Software Engineering Manager – Reporting to APAC Director IHS Inc (Australia)
Managed the day-to-day operation of the Cyberjaya office and liaise with our US HQ on new project.. Analyze, design, manage, code and implement new software solution and do maintenance on existing ones. Research, explore and recommend strategies, technologies and methodologies in tandem with company efforts to identify, evaluate and implement new core solutions. Supervise daily activities of software engineers and do project management. Also, I developed numerous solutions in Microsoft C++, C# and Java for stand alone and Web application. My key success was our E-Fasteners application that was developed as the front-end data acquisition application to capture mechanical engineering data.
Key achievements:-
Ø The CyberVending Machine – A Web based E-commerce shopping cart that was developed in Coldfusion, Java and Ms SQL Database.
Ø The E-Fastener Data Acquisition Software - Our web based Mechanical Data Entry application that was developed in Microsoft C#, ASP.NET and Ms SQL Server.
Ø The Content Automation System - Our web-based Generic Data Entry application that was developed in Microsoft C#, ASP.NET and Ms SQL Server.
Ø Web reference linking - Developed search engine and Spider that crawls the Internet for technical information and store the PDFs into our repository for data entry processes, this was developed in Microsoft C++ and SQL Server.
Ø DCWS – Developed Data Conversion Workflow System that keeps track of our resources utilization and time management for our data entry department. This was developed in Coldfusion, Java and MS SQL Server.

My primary duties were to code, test and implement solutions for our Retail Banking System using COBOL, PL1 and SAS programming language The file structure and data were stored as VSAM file or DB2 database.
