Handheld Terminal Emulation Screen(repost)(repost)

We have a client that is using terminals connected to a mainframe to manage their inventory tasks.

They have purchased some Symbol MC-9090s PDTs running Windows Mobile 5.0. The terminals have Wavelink 3270 terminal emulation software loaded on them. Unfortunately, the regular screens have too much information on them to be able to scroll from field to field effectively. They don't want to create new screens on the mainframe to interface to the handheld terminals. They would prefer an application to run on the handhelds. They currently have different screens to capture inventory information. They have receiving, labeling, put-away, picking and shipping screens. They typically only need about 6-8 fields on the handheld while the current terminal screens have 20 or 30. For this project, we want to start by doing just one screen (proof of concept). We would like to have the terminal connect to the mainframe as it does now using the 3270 emulator, and then show the user a form to scan or enter 6-8 fields, and then have the data screen sent to the server. We don't have all the details yet and so can not include them in this project, but there will eventually be more screens for put-away, picking and shipping. At this point, we are open to suggestions as to the best way to accomplish these tasks on the handhelds. I have seen a JAVA-based screen-scraping library that might work for this application([[url removed, login to view]<wbr />.html).][1] It could probably be done as a VB.net app as well.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

4)Application must be able to show 8 data fields that are present on the current receiving terminal emulation screen. They should be shown as a form on the handheld terminal. The form should be able to be populated either by the built-in scanner(imager version) or by the key board. Each field should be able to be validated as to whether it is required, text/numeric and length.

When complete, it should be able to send the data either directly back to the server or else populate the regular terminal emulation screen and then have that sent (currently key).
