Lay out parts list (besides the LEDs) and plan for completing sign. Program some basic chase stuff and color changing in. This project is silly simple for someone who knows this stuff. I do not. I'm building a chase light sign to go on a curtain (backdrop) behind a band. I need plans and help programming.

OVERVIEW: This is one off project, a lighted "retro" sign that will be attached to a curtain behind a rock band. It will be controlled by a roadie and will have to be fairly simple to operate. It's behavior is "retro", so the functions will be limited. It will be constructed from 550 to 600 LED digital pixels with individual addressing. Physical assembly will be completed be me on site, instructions for wiring will be communicated through photos or sketches (programmer will have to have good knowledge of English). Actual code for arduino or any software with controller is a deliverable. Programmer will plan materials, design electrical wiring , complete any programming for controller.
MATERIALS: digital pixels (WS2801 or WS2811 : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G1A8QV8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00), [remaining parts to be defined further by designer/programmer. Other parts listed from here on are pre-design estimates]: power supply (enough for 600 pixels), controller (adruno? +fadecandy?)
SCOPE:
1. Provide an implantation design/plan to complete the project economically and with durable materials. (using 550-600 WS2801 or wWS2811 pixels). Define what other exact parts will be needed. (once plan is approved by me, I will order the materials and send photos for precise wiring instructions.)
2. provide exact wiring instructions on the exact materials (from photos provided once materials are purchased)
3. complete whatever programming (arduino ?, fade candy? Python? C?) is needed to make the completed project function as desired.
DELIVERABLES:
1. materials plan based on project needs.
2. Wiring instructions based on above plan.
3. Final code to run controller and/or any software implementation that is needed for project to function.
PROJECT FUNCTION: [550-600 pixel LED sign]
1. can light up in different solid colors
2. can do a few different specific chases in solid colors. (example: run 5 pixels at 50% bright, 5 pixels at 100% bright all the way through the sign and move the order forward at a defined speed). The chases will be very specific but there won’t be a lot of them.
3. can smoothly fade from one color to another
4. can be controlled from a simple controller that can access “presets” without having to scroll through each (meaning go directly from preset 1 to preset 5)
DESIGN “LOOK” DETAILS:
This sign is built to be used with a band, it will be transported from location to location so it will be durable and portable. It’s built to mimic a sign used by Led Zeppelin in 1975, although it is a smaller scale (the original was over 9 meters high, the one being constructed will be 2 meters high and 9.5 meters wide.)
I have attached pictures of both the original sign and the pixel layout for the version the project will use.
