Create controllabe LED light show setup to go with my Ableton Live DJ set

I'm looking for someone to help me create a custom, lightweight light show to accompany my Ableton Live controlled music set.

In short, I would like to attach 10-20 small LED lights to the inside of old lamps, beneath the lamp shades. Those lights would then go on and off with the music, ideally controlled by Ableton using MAX or something like this....I'm not really sure. Maybe it's Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

Please let me know what approach you would take for creating this system.
