Design and Mockup of App to Retrieve and Organize Published Academic Papers

This project will be the design phase of a software application which will assist in finding published academic papers online and retrieving/archiving these papers in an elegant, easy to use fashion. This project will solely be to design the software and build a mockup. Execution of the design will be a separate project, though the programmer who completes the design well would be in an excellent position to bid on the execution phase. Again, this phase will be for a mockup only - no coding needed for this project.

Skills essential for completing this project include knowledge of:

* HTTP web API application interfaces

* PDF and PDF portfolio creation and manipulation

* Optical character recognition technology

* Fuzzy logic (comparing similar but not precisely identical sets of words to determine if they are a match)

Upon award of this project, I will provide the programmer with a list of software applications and websites and API interfaces to be used as part of the design. I will also provide the programmer with some sample reports to be produced by the software and I will be available to discuss the project design via email as it proceeds.

The future finished Application (not part of this project) will run under Windows XP/Windows 7 and may additionally have a web app compontent. Again this project however will strictly be a design phase - the deliverables will be a mockup but not an actual piece of software.
