Classipress function needed

*** Please only devleopers that are familiar with the classipress framework. ***

I am looking for someone to help me with a php function for classipress.

It will involve creating a function that overrides the current directory layout, so that I can specify how many main cats go into each column.

Currently out of the box, it takes the total number of main cats and divides it by the columns, which I do not want.

** You will have to have your own version of Classipress to write the function as my client wants their site access private

Please let me know if you have any questions. I want to get this done asap

It might be best to make an extension (plugin) for the Classipress theme
