Let's try this yet again.
I need a small bash script which simply logs changes in hops when a network goes down. The network is uses both dynamic AND static routes but that is not important to me. All I want to know is the following.
When our corporate network fails... I want to start the following test...
-Start of outage - timestamp
-Which hop is missing - obviously, the one after which ever is last reached. When did the hop come back
-Did any other hops go missing once the first one came back?
If so, timestamp when it went down and when it came back.
-Do NOT use a log file if at all possible, but convert the output into variables which can be printed.
-Don't use single cycle checking because that creates tons of useless logs.
-When the LAN connection comes back, create a timestamp to show end of problem.
If you do this well, there WILL be more work!
