The following proposal outlines the development project for a free of minimal Digital TV and Cable service streamed directly through a “Smart TV’s” broadband connection.
The business benefit being, that a user will have no need for a Cable service provider, and instead select the content and channels that are of most interest.
The following components will need to be built as part of this offering:
Prototype and Funding version:
• An App for a Smart TV built on Samsung’s Smart TV SDK
• A Server or multiple servers capable of streaming free digital TV to the client TV app.
• A basic Web site – for marketing purposes only.
Initially content will be free and the advertisements embedded in the video stream will be that of the service providers. This will change in later versions – whereby this service will replace the ads by the originating broadcaster, with that of the relevant jurisdiction, analogous to the way Google Ad Words works for internet content.
