Data entry PDFs and Excel Files

Project Description

This project involves copying and organizing Shipping company information into different excel files. Please download the following zip file which contains all relevant documents:

Part 1) – Canadian Freight Ways

In the “cf” directory in the zip file take the contents of the following excel file:

ONT Tab

PQ Tab

WEST Tab

And combine them into one file called Canadian [url removed, login to view] This new file should have four columns:

Community Name

Basing Point

Province

Freight Company (Always CANADIAN FREIGHTWAYS)

For example: cfservice [url removed, login to view], find the first city: "ABERFOYLE". This will be inputted into Canadian [url removed, login to view] as:

ABERFOYLE GUELPH ONTARIO CANADIAN FREIGHTWAYS

in their respective columns. For the PQ tab, please enter the province as “Quebec”. For the WEST Tab Please enter the Province as coded in the column (AB = Alberta, BC = British Columbia, or SK = Saskatechewan)

Part 2) Day Ross

In the “dayross” directory in the zip folder there are PDF files representing each Canadian province.

This information needs to be placed all into one excel file named [url removed, login to view] This new file should have four columns:

Community Name

Basing Point

Province

Freight Company (Always DAY & ROSS for this one)

Example: Open [url removed, login to view], fir the firty city “ABEE” This will be inputted into [url removed, login to view] as:

ABEE EDMONTON ALBERTA DAY & ROSS

Part 3) Hiway9

In the “hiway9” directory in the zip folder there is a single PDF named [url removed, login to view]

This information needs to be placed all into one excel file named [url removed, login to view] This new file should have four columns:

Community Name

Basing Point

Province (Always ALBERTA for this one)

Freight Company (Always HI-WAY 9 for this one)

This file is a little different.

Example: Open up hiway9/[url removed, login to view], and take the first city “ACADIA VALLEY”, this would be inputted into [url removed, login to view] as:

ACADIA VALLEY DRUMHELLER ALBERTA HI-WAY 9

Explanation: ACADIA VALLEY is the CITY, DRUMHELLER is the basing point because it is coded as “D” in the HUB TRM column (look on the lower right side of the page to see the codes explained)

Part 4) Web collection (very small part)

a) Kindersley Transport

Visit: [url removed, login to view], and input the information into an excel file called [url removed, login to view]

Example: Vancouver, would be inputted as:

VANCOUVER VANCOUVER BRITISH COLUMBIA KINDERSLEY

(based on BC = BRITISH COLUMBIA)

b) M-O Freightworks

Visit [url removed, login to view] and input the information into an excel file called [url removed, login to view]

Example:

CALGARY CALGARY ALBERTA M-O FREIGHTWORKS

Notes:

-Input the Toronto listing as: TORONTO TORONTO ONTARIO M-O FREIGHTWORKS

-Do two separate entries for Halifax / Dartmonth: 1st line: HALIFAX DARTMOUTH ... 2nd line: DARTMOUTH DARTMOUTH

-What time you can start, I am ready to put funds into escrow right now

-When the project can be completed

-A PM which answers this question: What is the basing point for the community of CAVAN, and what Province is it in. (This can be found in the cf/service [url removed, login to view] ONT tab word document) This is to demonstrate your understanding of the project, and will take about a minute.
