Hi!

I've written a book about political culture wars around the world....left/right politics. I've been playing around with creating some book cover designs myself...some ok stuff, but nothing great just yet. So I'm hoping some creative superstars can help me out.

Please see the PDF & AI files attached, to see what I've been coming up with so far.

A few details...
-- In Canada & the US, the two main sides of politics are often defined by two colours, red and blue. Which is why I've been using blue and red with the title RIFT....blending them into purple. As the whole point of the book is about learning how to balance the two sides of our political nature. I don't "need" red and blue to be used in the design, but I just thought it was an interesting detail.
-- The word RIFT can be created by taking the two first letters of the word RIGHT, and the two last letters of the word LEFT. Which is why I've created a subtle little detail showcasing the blending of Right & Left, by adding the smaller LE and GHT, in screened-back fonts. You don't have to design this subtle detail the exact same way that I've done it, but I do think this detail is important in the overall design.
-- I think a photographic image is a strong addition to the cover design, however it's not absolutely essential. My favourite is the sculpture of the two black thinking men balancing on the brass rails, but feel free to use something else, or none at all.
-- All the verbiage/text on the cover is important and necessary. I prefer the "The Tenacious Perpetuality..." line to be on/near the top, as well as the sub-text "Culture wars are spitting us..." to be under the title word RIFT. But if you think there's a better way, then go for it.
-- The book size will be approximately 5.5" wide by 8.25" high/long....but this may change slightly once I'm ready to publish. But for design, just go with these sizes, unless you think there's something better.
-- For the final files needed from the contest winner, I'll require a raw Illustrator file that I can work with and make moderate changes to, as well all the elements/assets/fonts included (packaged).

    I just wanted to say thank you!!!

    So many of you have done a tremendous amount of work on this book cover contest...I am blown away.
    I am currently shortlisting my favourite ones right now. It's a difficult decision, but I'm getting there.
    I wish I could reward at least 4-5 of you as the contest winner.

    These contests are a tough format. Because it's unbelievably unfair to you guys.
    However, the creative that comes out of these contests is really diverse, and evolves very quickly.

    Anyway, this book is the most important thing I've ever done.
    So I wanted to thank you all for helping me out with this very important part of completing it.
