Optimize my dedicated server with Nginx hosting Wordpress

My website is being hosted on Wordpress. It has good server specs, more than enough but it needs some serious optimization. Not running too many plugins, all necessary ones only. Server specs are 2x Quad Core E5620, 24GB RAM, running on SSD. It has CentOS 6.5, no control panel, Nginx Web server, installed some softwares like php-qfm, varnish cache (I don't know if they're working properly on it). My website can't handle more than 1,500 online users but it should be able to handle much more, at least 2,500. When I have too many users online, I get "Error 503 Service Unavailable" error. See attatched screenshot for it. I need someone who specializes in tuning servers. Must be knowledgeable with Nginx, MYSQL, and litte bit of Wordpress. The server needs tuning in the db, indexes, webserver, the os, installing softwares that helps it, tuned configuration and so on. Whatever it is you can do.
