Diesel Engine Case Study (2007) - Examined engine parts including crankshaft, connecting rod, bearings and oil passages. - Assembled and disassembled parts and analysed their operation in the engine. - Manufacturing process and material costs for each part were reviewed. - Illustrated the movement of parts in an assembly and how fast each part operated. - Metrology of the parts including precise measurements of each engine part was carried out. - Mechanical machines were used to determine the plastic deformation of the parts, e.g. forged steel. - Concluded the experiment findings of the engine part and proposed improvements.
