Project Description

Hikayat Hang Tuah graphic novel consists of 9 volumes of stories, which divided onto chapters from a novel entitled “Hikayat Hang Tuah” by Kassim Ahmad.

These books will separate onto 3 phases:

1. Phase 1 : The Rise of Hang Tuah

2. Phase 2 : The Brother’s Death

3. Phase 3 : Puteri Gunung Ledang

Each phase will be separated onto 3 chapters each. The whole story basically will tell the life of Hang Tuah until his disappearance.

Total page : 100 pages per book

Media : Printed book and Digital Apps

Genre : Action/History/Drama

Target audience : Young adult (18 to 30), adult (31 to 60), tourists, malay culture activists

Synopsis

Hang Tuah is a legendary admiral (or laksmana as in Malay) who served the throne of Malacca before the invasion of Portugese.

This epic will tell the live of the legend; his principals, his battle days and other related stories that will portray why the admiral was celebrated since today.

The story will basically be separated onto chapters as below:

Phase 1:

1. Child lives until teenagers when he met his first master

2. Hang Tuah’s journey on creating himself as silat master

3. Hang Tuah completed his study and continues his journey as a warrior

Phase 2:

1. Hang Tuah meets the four brothers and recognized to be empire’s admiral after beating down amok rages.

Ends with Jebat starting to show his rebel against the empire

2. Hang Tuah accused for betrayal and Jebat rebels against Sultan and the whole corrupted empire.

3. Tuah returns and takes down Jebat

Phase 3:

1. Sultan Mahmud acknowledged about Puteri Gunung Ledang and sends Tuah, together with treasurer to propose Puteri Gunung Ledang.

2. On their way, they meet a lot of obstacles

3. Tuah and treasurer failed to propose Puteri Gunung Ledang which makes Tuah disappears upon his disappointment.

I want to make an animation for phase one after the graphic novel is totally finished in August. I suggest to make about 3 episodes for the first book about 100 pages.
