Hi I'm a python/Django programmer with 12+ years experience. I can see some issues with some of the code and how its working. Making this multi threaded (multiprocesser) will take a little bit of a rewrite, but should be doable. Also improving speed I think can be done by reducing a lot of the iterations. The main issue that I can see at this time is your appending data to a file, by constantly opening/closing, so we would need to link the threads with a stack so that one thread is just writing to the file, while others are doing the data processing.
