Google Chrome Extension Development -- Webpage Text Scraping and Processing

Overview: Need chrome extension that can pass the text of a webpage into a python script (this python script is already built and just needs to be plugged in) and then display the results to the user from the python script after processing web page text. ______________________________________________________ Details: There are two main components that need to be fulfilled in order for me to declare the project as a success. First, the chrome extension needs to be able to read online news articles (CNN, Fox, Reuters, etc.) and pass the text (preferably plain text) into the python script for processing and then be able to display a numerical score to the user. I would prefer this action to start with the push of a button by the user telling the program to run and score the article. Some type of logic to only allow the extension to run on news websites would be preferable (maybe in the form of an alert that references a list of websites that are known news websites). More details of the functionality of the scoring can be discussed at further length to determine the most reasonable approach. Second, I want to be able to track what articles users are allowing the extension to evaluate as well as what news articles they are reading. I am less clear on the manner in which this can be accomplished so expert advice on this task would be welcomed. The data is valuable for many reasons and I would need to discuss the form in which I can access and evaluate the data before it is built. Some overall notes: This is the beginning of what I intend to be a much larger project. Easy access to tweak elements of the code after it is built is valuable to me as there is various functionality I may want to include on my end in the future.
